Saturday is your excuse to slip away and take care of yourself. Even if you're hiding from your kiddos or only have 10 minutes. Let it clear your mind, ease your tension, exhale the breath you didn't even know you were holding in. Fill up your soul with a few moments of rest... just. for. YOU. Happy Weekending!
Hygge is the Danish word for the practice of being cozy, content & focusing on your wellbeing. It represents turning inward and slowing down, filling your soul with warmth and finding the pleasure in something so simple as a cup of tea. In the grips of winter, my arms are open wide to accept this beautiful practice.
Nature. A moment outside first thing in the morning can do wonders.
I awake to the darkness and walk down the creaky staircase of this old house. Turning on the tea kettle, aware of the peaceful silence of the house as the rest of them still sleep. I prepare my daily morning tea. The process slow and mindful. Gently pouring the steaming water over the tea leaves and then I wait. I look out the windows.I watch the light start to peek over the houses.I wonder what the day will bring. I inhale the release of the herbs as they steam the air... clove, orange, ginger, cinnamon, pepper...Indian Summer - Orange Masala...
Copper distillers are so beautiful. I leave mine displayed out as a piece of art. The preparation for making hydrosols starts a few days out, but sitting with the still while it does it's magic for a few hours is an amazing adventure in herbalism. Distillers for herbs are used to make essential oils or hydrosols, which are the floral or herbal waters steamed or hydrodistilled from the plant material. Hydrosols can be used in facial mists, facial toners, cooking or cocktail making. Loving exploring the world of hydrosols! .
